Née en 1953 au Zimbabwe, Jill Furmanovsky est une photographe britannique spécialisée dans le rock. Par chance à 18 ans, elle obtient son premier emploi au Rainbow Theatre à Londres en tant que photographe de concert. Elle a ainsi réalisé des photos de nombreux groupes comme Led Zeppelin ou les Pink Floyd, son groupe préféré avec qui elle a tourné, ou encore Oasis.
En 1995, elle publie un premier livre intitulé The Moment - 25 Years of Rock Photography.

The contact sheet of the Icelandic singer shows how the smallest shifts in expression can change the feeling of a shoot, from something glossy and distant to something that feels candid. “It’s because of her very strong personality, her quirkiness,” says Furmanovsky. “Instead of looking like a fashion shoot, which it easily could have done, it becomes a kind of collaboration between the camera and the artist.
